On December 1^st to 2^nd, the opening ceremony of the 24th Annual Conference and Academic Seminar of the Hunan Translators' Association, sponsored by our institute in Yueyang. Jiang Hongxin, president of Hunan Normal University and president of Hunan Translation Association, Zhang Ling, vice-president of Huaihua Institute, Li Gang, vice-president of Hunan Institute of Arts and Science and Lu Xianming, president of Hunan University, attended the meeting. All vice-president, executive director of Hunan Translation workers Association and leaders, teachers and graduate students of foreign language school in 31 universities in Hunan Province participated in the meeting.

President Lu Xianming made a welcome speech, and briefly introduced the basic situation of the institute and teaching situation of foreign language and literature institute. He earnestly hopes that the foreign language workers of the whole province will work together to promote the development of translation work in our province.

Professor Jiang Hongxin, president of Hunan Normal University and president of Hunan Translation Association, made an important speech on the theme of “Reflections on the cultivation of compound talents in foreign languages in the new era”. He suggests that foreign language teachers should strengthen the communication and teaching from such aspects as “the new era calls for compound talents in foreign language”, “the challenges faced by foreign language talents in China”,  ”the practice and exploration of the cultivation of compound talents in foreign language majors in China”, ”the compound talents in foreign language majors in China””the cultivation path of compound talents in foreign language majors in new era”. Experience is shared by teachers in the whole province, so as to truly realize “a family of foreign languages”. In addition, he also emphasized that foreign language education should insist the spirit of humanistic education, deepen the comprehensive reform of foreign language teaching, and cultivate higher quality compound talents through consolidating language teaching.
