Campus News In the golden autumn season, with the blue waves rippling across South Lake and the lush forests blanketing Muyu Mountain, the new students of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology (HNIST) class of 2025 arrived on campus on September 13, carrying dreams and aspirations from all corners of the country to embark on a brand-new journey of pursuing their goals. University leaders including Zhang Guoyun, Xie Guihui, Xu Xiaoli, Xu Zhenxiang, Tang Xiaohong, Liu Changhui, and Hu Wenjing visited the welcome sites to greet new students and their parents, and extend their appreciation to the staff assisting with the orientation.
To ensure a smooth registration process for new students, the university held a special coordination meeting in advance, refined task assignments, optimized the registration procedures, and developed a detailed and thorough orientation plan. At the reception points of each school, staff and volunteers provided orderly, convenient, and efficient registration services. Through displays, models, physical exhibits, and various other forms, the schools vividly introduced their development, teaching and research, academic competitions, and employment prospects to new students and parents, helping freshmen build initial professional awareness and deepen their understanding of their chosen fields.
It is reported that in 2025, HNIST enrolled a total of 5,181 new students from 31 provinces (municipalities and autonomous regions) across the country, including 4,450 undergraduates and 731 postgraduates. After completing registration, the university will organize a series of activities such as freshman orientation, military training, and the opening ceremony to strengthen students’ sense of identity and belonging to the university and help them embark on their new journey.
