Campus News Fostering virtue and nurturing talent, drawing inspiration from excellence to compose a glorious chapter. On the afternoon of May 20, the university held the 2025 Outstanding Student Awards Ceremony to encourage students to study diligently and strive with determination. Zhang Guoyun, Secretary of the University Party Committee, along with all other university leaders present on campus, attended the event.

During the awards ceremony, university leaders and heads of relevant functional departments presented awards to outstanding teams and individuals. Xiao Weiting, a student from the School of Physical Education and recipient of the "Chinese College Student Self-improvement Star," and Xue Sijia, a student from the School of Mechanical Engineering and recipient of the National Scholarship and "Top Ten Party Member" representative, delivered speeches on behalf of the students.

Zhang Guoyun pointed out that over the past year, the university has consistently adhered to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as its guide, fully implemented the Party's education policy, carried out the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and remained committed to the original mission of educating students for the Party and the country. The university's educational standards and influence have continued to rise. During the 2023-2024 academic year, a large number of outstanding students and advanced groups emerged, showcasing the new spirit and demeanor of young scholars. He expressed hope that students would build their character on the "foundation of moral integrity," becoming practitioners who "promote civilized trends," consciously embodying socialist core values, fastening every button of life correctly, and letting their youth shine brightly on the path of moral cultivation. He urged them to anchor their hearts with the "soul of ideals," becoming seekers of light who "keep the country's major concerns in mind," embrace the "two overall situations," care for the "major national priorities," cultivate deep patriotic feelings, set ambitions early and aim high, and integrate their personal studies and lives into the new journey of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Furthermore, he encouraged them to act with the "posture of struggle," becoming trailblazers who "dare to surpass themselves," always maintaining a thirst for knowledge, pursuing excellence in scaling the peaks of learning, fostering enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship, expanding their thinking and forging ahead through practical innovation, and composing the song of youth in the new era through determined struggle.

Heads of relevant functional departments, party committee secretaries of each school, deputy secretaries in charge of student affairs, directors of student affairs offices, secretaries of the Youth League committees, representatives of award-winning students, and all first-year undergraduate students of the class of 2024 attended the awards ceremony.
