Campus Network News Faced with the challenges and opportunities brought by the development of new quality productive forces, local universities urgently need to re-examine the goals and requirements of discipline construction in order to better adapt to and lead regional economic and social development. On November 4th, the China Education Daily published a signed article by President Zeng Xiangjun titled How New Quality Productive Forces Leads the Discipline Construction of Local Universities.

The article points out that in the context of the development of new quality productive forces, the new requirements for discipline construction in local universities are reflected in the high standard and accurate abutment between discipline development and productivity development. On the basis of strengthening traditional advantaged disciplines, local universities should keep up with the new trends of scientific and technological development, actively expand new research fields, build a discipline system of multi-disciplinary integration, and provide solid theoretical support and strong intellectual support for regional economic and social development.

The article also points out that the development of new quality productive forces not only provides new direction and motivation for the discipline construction of local universities, but also brings unprecedented opportunities and challenges. The discipline construction of local universities should achieve scientific planning, adjustment, and development of disciplines, adjust the discipline layout guided by national strategic needs, optimize the discipline structure, cultivate talents that are in line with industrial trends, encourage exchanges and cooperation between different disciplines, break down disciplinary barriers, promote innovation in interdisciplinary content and teaching methods, and form new disciplinary growth points.
