Ⅱ. Provisions on the Administration of Foreign Teacher at HNIST

The purpose of employing foreign teachers is to adapt to the needs of schools, open schools, strengthen disciplines and to improve the level of college teaching and research. Foreign teachers are an integral part of the school’s teaching staff. Therefore, in order to further standardize the management of the school’s foreign teachers, the following provisions have been developed.

Employment of Foreign Teachers

The relevant College and department requests foreign teacher(s), the HR Department approves the college’s request for foreign teacher(s). The Teaching Affairs Dept. determines the employment responsibilities of the teacher(s). The International Exchange Department is responsible for handling the procedures for processing the invitation to work in China as well as the residence permit after entry into China.

Requirements for Employment as a Foreign Teacher:

(1) Language teachers should have a bachelor degree or above and at least two years of work experience.

(2) Professional skills teachers are preferred to have a master's degree and at least two years relevant professional work experience.

(3) All foreign teachers are expected to abide by Chinese laws and regulations and to comply with school regulations. Furthermore, foreign teachers are expected to respect the culture and customs of the Chinese people.

(4) Foreign teachers are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.

(5) Applicants to work at the school must be in good general health (seeAnnex 1).

Foreign Teacher Employment Procedure:

(1), The Teaching Affairs Office determines the employment responsibilities for the teaching position. The college that wishes to hire foreign teacher(s) must fill out the "Hunan Institute of Science and Technology Application Form to Hire Foreign Teachers" (seeAnnex 2), in order to declare their intent to hire foreign teachers for the next semester. This must be completed by the 10th week of the prior semester in which the foreign teacher(s) will begin teaching.

(2), International Exchange Department and the Personnel Department approve the College’s plan to hire foreign teacher(s).

(3), International Exchange Department and the Personnel Department along with the College, review the qualifications of the applying foreign teacher(s).

(4), The Teaching Affairs Office determines the employment responsibilities of the teaching position.

(5), The International Exchange Department is responsible for handling the procedures for processing the invitation to work in China as well as the residence permit after entry into China.
